JSA was involved in several renovation and refurbishment projects for DFID. The office building was converted from an existing commercial building. This involved the entire renovation of the interior of the main building.
The exterior work involved landscaping, constructing boundary walls, entry gates and support in buildings such as a cafeteria, a store and maintenance areas.
Besides the interior, electrification, the HVAC facility and the entire sanitation work were changed inside the building. Panic doors were added to the evacuation stairs in the existing building.
The office rooms (open/enclosed) and meeting rooms were created as per the need of the client. The false ceiling and floor finish were done differently in different rooms according to their demands. The entry porch is decorated in local style– traditional brick facades with wood carving elements as stair railing, planter etc.
Since last year, JSA has also served for Maintenance Projects for DFID-N office and all its staff residences.

REPUBLIC MEMORIAL
DUDBC had organized a National design competition in Jan 2009, for a republic memorial design in which JSA came through as the winner among 14 other participants.
The purpose of the design is to memorialize the anonymous heroes of the country who put the nation ahead of their lives, and to provide a place for family members and friends to reflect on the loss of their loved ones.
It consists of an auditorium building, placed in the center of the site following the symmetrical approach of the other built structures within the site vicinity. It consists of a huge exhibition area and a meeting hall at the center. The auditorium is enhanced by large courts which also act as the fire safety approach.
The memorial’s origin is located approximately at the center of the site with four metal stambhas connected together with an elliptical steel band and also at the centre which connects through circular steel beams and reads “you will never be forgotten”.
Stambha 1 is dedicated to the ones who were lost, stambha 2 is dedicated to the ones who lost their lives, stambha 3 is dedicated to the ones who were abducted and stambha 4 is dedicated to the ones who were handicapped during the revolution. Each of the stambha has niches for names to be carved on them.
PATAN HOSPITAL MATERNITY WARD
The project is 140 beds in addition to the existing infrastructure of Patan Hospital. A major portion of the project is dedicated to the maternity medical care while there is also a section dedicated to the pediatric ward. In addition to maternity and pediatric medical services, the project constitutes spaces allocated for other hospital utilities like maintenance, laundry, dining and so on.
This building occupying close to 100,000 square feet of built up space has a hydroid radiant floor heating system in the medical areas to provide thermal comfort to the patients. A framed structure with infill cavity wall constitutes doors and windows of UPVC sections. The building has an auditorium, seminar rooms and educational facilities on the top floor. The basement of the building accommodates approximately 45 cars and almost an equal number of two-wheeler parking spaces.
The building plans are developed through thorough consultations with Patan Hospital team, analyzing the client’s need and fulfilling their requirement. The facade of the building has two distinct characteristics. The section next to the existing hospital is designed in fair-faced brick facade to match the existing elevation while the facade along east face (next to main road) is inspired from ‘Shanta Bhawan’ building where the mission started.
INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAINEERING MUSEUM
The building is essentially a museum of international mountaineering. The building has a double storied open hall for demonstration with viewing galleries at the north with excellent views of the Himalaya. The service areas are at the south of the site.
The building was constructed with beam and column frame structure system. The roof is a
steel truss with metal roofing with a false ceiling for good thermal performance against the prevailing heat and dampness of Pokhara.
The design of the building is modern with a specific geometric shape on plan and also in volume. The north facade has plenty of openings for viewing along with a stone wall. The windows are made of aluminum.
