REPUBLIC MEMORIAL

DUDBC had organized a National design competition in Jan 2009, for a republic memorial design in which JSA came through as the winner among 14 other participants.
The purpose of the design is to memorialize the anonymous heroes of the country who put the nation ahead of their lives, and to provide a place for family members and friends to reflect on the loss of their loved ones.
It consists of an auditorium building, placed in the center of the site following the symmetrical approach of the other built structures within the site vicinity. It consists of a huge exhibition area and a meeting hall at the center. The auditorium is enhanced by large courts which also act as the fire safety approach.
The memorial’s origin is located approximately at the center of the site with four metal stambhas connected together with an elliptical steel band and also at the centre which connects through circular steel beams and reads “you will never be forgotten”.
Stambha 1 is dedicated to the ones who were lost, stambha 2 is dedicated to the ones who lost their lives, stambha 3 is dedicated to the ones who were abducted and stambha 4 is dedicated to the ones who were handicapped during the revolution. Each of the stambha has niches for names to be carved on them.
